Flames sign RFA Matthew Tkachuk to three-year deal

The Calgary Flames have signed RFA Matthew Tkachuk to a three-year bridge deal worth $7 million AAV for a total of $21 million.

Tkachuk’s deal makes him the Flames’ highest-paid player, above Johnny Gaudreau ($6.75-million AAV), captain Mark Giordano ($6.75-million AAV) and Sean Monahan ($6.375-million AAV).

The 21-year-old is coming off a career-high 2018-19 campaign, where he scored 34 goals and had 43 assists for a total of 77 points. Tkachuk was one of five Flames players to have gotten 70+ points last season.

Tkachuk was one of many high-end RFAs looking for contracts this summer including Mitch Marner, Brock Boeser, Brayden Point, Patrik Laine, Kyle Connor, and Mikko Rantanen.
