Flames sign Rittich to 2-year deal

The Calgary Flames have re-signed David Rittich to a two-year deal with an AAV of $2.75 million.

The Flames’ goaltender played in 45 games last season, winning 27 and only losing 9. The 26-year-old finished the season with a 2.61 GAA and a .911 SV%.

Rittich played alongside veteran goaltender Mike Smith, who recently signed with the Edmonton Oilers for the upcoming season. But, the Flames signed ex-Oiler Cam Talbot earlier this summer and he will be sharing the net with Rittich throughout this year.

Rittich is 6’3″ tall and weighs 206 lbs.

He is expected to have a pretty solid year after having a breakthrough season last year for the Flames. Although the Flames did not play Rittich in last year’s Stanley Cup Finals, it’s likely he will be working hard to take the top goaltender spot and start more games.
